BOOK TWO READ ALONG --------->
'The Brave Friend Leads the Way'

California Institute of the Arts
1990
How you do ONE thing, is how you do ALL things.
In a world at war with words a voice is everything.
Comics helped me focus to form letters into words. Until I could read, I enjoyed pictures which taught me to love to draw. Once I could read I learned to write, and eventually paint.
Thank You, comic artists.
As a child funny pages were such a favorite I slipped them out of my neighbors morning newpapers before they woke up. Next I took books.
Piles.
...library books too.
They've been returned. I am reformed.
I'm a 6th gen Cali native with 3 decades in Los Angeles' TV/FILM cartoon industry. My stepfather, an architect, shared his drafting supplies with me, and drew me pictures, a LOT! I loved the black graphic weight and smell of newsprint strips - then SURF comics, X-MEN, MAD, D&D, Elf Quest, TMNT, got me into brush and ink by 8th grade. I moved to Australia with my family and saw more water than ever. I started surfing instead of boogie boarding. When I returned to the US I attended my first comic convention in 10th grade. Then, it was just one massive room lined with rows of folding tables covered in smelly old cardboard boxes packed with vintage publications, some in plastic bags.
I love a great story, drawing, design, and painting all for their individual characteristics, and especially animation for it's infinite living visual potential to lie convincingly to the eye with sound in motion. I LOVE PRINT! HANDWRITING!
imagination + pencil + blank paper = pure magic.
Art, Abstract experiments speak all languages.
When a great picture (or form) comes together the impossible is shown possible, can't becomes can, teary eyes open wide, mouth corners bend gravity, and inspired audiences are well fed but hungrier
and more hopeful for a personal real life destiny than ever before.
More than anything humanity needs to believe, the medicine of story telling helps US ALL achieve this leap of faith, CHANGE - and more.
If they can, we can -
overcome fear,
engage life,
act alone, lead.
Find out who is who.
CREATE!RECREATE!SHARE!
strive for grace
I love people, one and all walking contradictions.
Only SO confident, but VERY sure of others.
I love to read, surf,
REALLY look at art, cook(EAT), and most -
but not all music, some poems.
I'm 51, happiest at my wettest n saltiest, arting, and when my daughter +2 dogs are with me
...I also like hearing
or telling an old fireside story.
Thank You Sincerely for visiting!
